Jill James
Jill is a Las Vegas native and has worked in public safety in the valley for 25 years. When Jill’s child came out as transgender in late 2014 she struggled, knowing next to nothing about trans folks or how to support her child. She was referred to Laura Hernandez's Gender Diverse Family and Youth Services program, and oining the parents’ support group was instrumental in her growth as an ally and trans parent. Jill was one of the first parents in Nevada to navigate the legal process for changing her child's name and gender, and years later She persevered through the medical obstacle course for her child to have the gender confirming surgeries that they desired. Jill is a former board member for Gender Justice Nevada and is active in the community.
